What's wrong with Mugsy Pug's nose

My black pug Mugsy seems to always have this layer of really dried up cracked skin on her nose. I'll get it all off and then it just comes back, and it's a pretty deep layer, about a 1/8 of an inch deep that just cracks and really itches and then eventually breaks off. Moisturizing hasn't seemed to help. Anyone know what could be causing this or what I could do about it. Most of the time it's not such a big deal except for not being very pretty, but every couple of weeks you can tell it gets really itchy and uncomfortable for her.

No, that's the weird thing. Her coat and skin are great! She actually has the best coat of any pug I've seen, it's just gorgeous. The problem is only on her nose, but it's constant.

Please take her to the vet or at the very least call them about it.

Your dogs nose should be slightly wet, but not dripping wet and there should be no crusties on her nose at all... crusties on the nose is a signal for a vet visit (or at least a call).

This is NOT normal please seek the help of a veterinary professional.

I had a crusty nose from allergies and it was really annoying. Does she have and gooey-ness around her eyes? That could also be a sign of allergies. My vet has been monitoring my pup for allergies. He has this wetness around his eye thing going on. She thinks it's seasonal stuff (we live in the pollen capital of the world I swear). I'm guessing the build up is more from drip or something and not dry skin. So the lotion probably isn't the answer.

Well it's really thick and leathery and black like her nose. That's why I thought it was a skin issue. She doesn't seem to have allergies, although she does have the occasional pug respiratory issues (trouble breathing because of the flat face). I guess it is going to take a vet visit. We're only about a month away from having to do her annual shots so I guess I could do those early and get everything done at once.

Kiwi licks her nose alot so she gets crusty skin on the top and she licking away the hair. But the vet said nothing about it. I would take Mugsy to the vet just to check it out.
