Zits

I was just wondering if dogs really do get zits. My dog had this little bump which looked very much like a zit and so i took him to the vet anyway cause i wasn't sure. And he said it looks like a zit and it would go away. But it has been 3 weeks and the zit seems to have grown a bit more and doesn't look like it's going away. I am kind of worried about it. Does any of you know anything about dogs having zits...?

Yes dogs can get them. That is about all I know. There was a chinese crested in Zoe's puppy class and he had acne. I think the owner had to give him some treatment though cuz he had a lot of bumps on his back. But apparently that happens a lot in the chinese cresteds.

My Doberman had a bump that looked like a zit. I took her to the vet because it seemed to double in size in about a week. It was a small tumor, she had surgery to remove it and thankfully it wasn't cancerous!

Ok, the zit didn't double in size in a week. But it did grow a bit and it's been 3 weeks now. Still not going away, so that's why i am concerned. It does look like a zit with puss in it.... Should I take him to the vet again?

My other dog Katie had some zit like bumps on her face too. They would come and go for about 2 months. The vet wasn't sure what they were, maybe allergic reaction. She gave me antibiotics for the puss infection and these pads that look just like oxy pads for humans. They even come in the same kind of container, lol. They haven't came back since then.

If you are worried then I would definatly take him to the vet.

Ask the vet if he can lance it. If it has stuff coming out it's an abscess/zit. If it doesn't then it could be a tumor. That's what my vet did with my dog. Nothing came out so she pretty much knew it was a tumor.
