Cute turtle . Is he a red-eared slider? I can't tell from the pictures. My friend has one .

Hello,
He's adorable !!
I rescued a turtle from a bad home but they didn't know what kind he was...He looks just like your though. I haven't had him long and I'm not really good at finding the right website on here to get any information about his care and things like that. I know I shouldbn't have gotten him with out researching on the type first but i couldn't just leave him there. They had him in a hermit crab starter kits things and it was WAY to small...I have him in a 10 gallon right now. He looks like it's big enough but i was wanting to get him a bigger one anyway.. Could you maybe suggest any good websites that might help me learn a lil more about him??
Thank-you

He's a big boy! Very cute!
I had my Oscar for about 13 years before I found out what he was. I took him to a vet that told me he was an asian species but I couldn't really find anything exactly like him while searching the internet. So I contacted the Philadelphia Zoo and asked if anyone could help me. A docent emailed me back and really helped me a lot! We now think he is a Florida Red Belly. He was very helpful this fall when we invested in a larger set up for Oscar. I would recommend emailing your local zoo for assistance.
I was told to check out this site www.chelonia.org

There actually are no zoo's here in Newfoundland and I am thankful of that.I know not all Zoo's are bad, but I am not a fan of them either way.

And honestly I don't really need assistance with my turtle right now.I know what kind he is and what his diet is and everything else I need to know. Thanks anyway though!

Do you still have Oscar? Any pics??? How old is he?

Oscar used to be a nice turtle but lately he has been a bit grouchy! He tries to bite me. Once he grabbed his own front leg when he was trying to bite me and he wouldn't let go. I felt terrible. I could tell by the look on his face that it was hurting him. But he just would not let go. I tried poking him with something and tried getting him to bit that instead but he wouldn't I finally had to let one of the dogs out and when I came back he had let go. I was really worried he would draw blood! Luckily he seemed fine.

My sister's husband has an awesome turtle. He found it right after it hatched when he was a little boy. I swear that poor turtle has no idea he is a turtle. If you put him on the floor and walk away then call him he comes running. If you lay flat he comes up and sniffs your face. I am just amazed at how social he is! Loves attention and even loves to be petted.

Very cute turtle!Awww...thats a sin, poor guy...do you know why he has become moody? Glad he never hurt himself.Tanjobi was really moody when I got him and snapped at me, he once got my sweater and wouldn't let go.He has calmed down though.

What a cute story! I would love to see a turtle do that!Maybe he thinks he is a dog???
