WARNING - GRAPHIC The realities of dogfighting -

Permission to crosspost as long as letter and link to the video are together.

==================================================

The Realities of Dogfighting was difficult for me to make on many levels...
For one, it is such a underground "event" that I found myself having trouble
finding all the information that I felt I needed to make a complete
educational video.. As I delved deeper in my research on dogfighting, my heart broke
with each picture, each video clip, with each rescue story that at one point,
I struggled to continue with this video and even then, I took about a month
off and stayed away from it. What kept me going was the remarks I constantly
heard from people I work with, on the street when I'm walking my dogs, on
the internet, on football forums, " They are just dogs, what's the big deal."
Everything. The trauma, the neglect, the cruelty these dogs go through for a
"dog man's" entertainment is horrendous. It truly takes a sick person to
gamble at the lives of dogs.

Secondly, my worry was that I didn't want it to put the Bully Breeds in a
bad light... I felt like I had to make it clear that these dogs were being
exploited by their handlers to be fighting dogs as well as show that not all of
these dogs will want to fight when thrown into a pit. I hope I succeeding in
that...

Lastly, I have always been taught to end whatever you are doing on a good
note and the fact that The Realities of Dogfighting is so heavy on the heart, I
wanted to end on a lighter, happier note. I found 2 rottweilers and 2
pitbulls, who are Survivors of Dogfighting and tell their heartbreaking stories.
Their human families are just as remarkable. These families spent countless
hours working with these dogs, and spending their first year in and out of
hospitals to bring these dogs back to health, and caring for them after
countless surgeries. Listening to the stories these owners were telling me had me
bawling, I wish I could have gone into more detail on their stories in the
video... These owners are heroes, the tremendous up and down, and the constant
training and working with these dogs was hard, but now, years later for all of
them, they have great dogs and wonderful ambassadors for their respected
breeds...So, I stand up and clap my hands for them and tell them, " Thank You,
and if only in my eyes, you are a hero to me."

I watched your video, though I had to stop half way through to breathe. I'm a trainer, and I also work with a rescue which deals alot with rescue pitts. I consider myself reletivly knowlegable when it comes to dog fighting. Dog fighting really is a horrible thing. I've seen alot of videos made on dog fighting, but they all show pictures. I think what got me the most in this one was the clip where it shows the dogs actually fighting WITH sound. Usually when people make videos, they leave out vid clips with sound. Very well made, good job.

I can't take the credit for making the video. It was posted on the pit bull forum I belong to and the poster gave us permission to crosspost.

hi.
im from NORTHERN IRELAND and its a well known spot for dogfighting.
it was voted as the worst country for dogfighting .
its so dreadfull sometimes i could walk down the street and hear the dogs being fought and the screams and yelps kills me outa every 10 houses were i live at least 3 a them fights there dogs
they where stealing peoples pet dogs outta there backyards and usiing them for fighting bait and yet the police does nothing about it my aunt works part time at a small animal shelter and she reported it and she wouldnt rest untill the police done something about it . and she got a result they raided a house and found 7 fighting does in a dreadfull state open wounds , parts missing and everything and sadlly many where found dead from this one house she got so many threats from the dog fighters and she still hasnt stopped trying to get this game stopped.
i hate it its destroyed are country everyone knows what goes on here now and its really sad.

I can't believe this garbage spectator "sport" is still around. Don't people have better things to do with their time? I think harsher sentences need to be handed out. Like that moron football player they caught doing that in the US. It didn't seem like the punishment was severe enough. I'm glad people are sending the message that this is unacceptable. I hope we can eradicate this trashy activity.

Basically over here the law doesnt care because they have something better to do and if its a football player or anything they get ' Special ' Treatment which is WRONG!
i just wish people would start and work along together to stop this its not a game or sport its TORTURE yeah ive heard of US dog fighting its pretty bad over here they ship pits from the US and hide them in there backyards because pitbulls are BANNED here but stil the law lets them fight them its just a vicious circle
