seems dead?

So I just have a question about my bearded dragon. I just got him about a week ago, and I notice that when he sleeps, like....he sleeeeps. And tonight I wanted to take him out of his aquarium so show someone, and he was sleeping. So i figured that i could just pick him up and it would be okay just like any other animal, but this was not the case. first i petted him so he would know i was there, but when he didnt respond to this, i gently grabbed him, but there was still nothing. He pretty much just stayed in the position that i let go of him in, and he seemed very cold. (I know his habitat is the right temperature, as i have a thermometer) so I freaked out, and thought for some crazy reason he was dead, even though i had him out and played with him for a good half hour earlier tonight. So anyway I just nudged at him until i saw his eyes finally open and he got right angry with me lol. Like I feel bad now, but i just wanted to show him off! Anyway my question is, is it normal for them to just seem dead and cold when theyre sleeping? He seems to be healthy in every respect, so I dont know, maybe im just being paranoid, but could anyone with a little experience help me out here?

:D I'm sorry your little guy freaked you out, in fact if they are not under a basking light or direct sunlight they will be sort of cold to the touch, it seems to me like you just have a very sleepy beardy, these guys aren't normally for "playing" with and can get stressed or even "tired out" if they are handled to much.

well i didnt mean play with him in the sense that you are probably thinking about, i just meant like...take him out to....socialize with i guess. lol.

I don't know much about bearded dragons but I have heard that they do sleep really well.
