Addison's cat. . . .
Thanks to those of you who read and responded (or just read) my post about my cat who was diagnosed with Addison's disease. More blood work on him after the weekend showed Cushing's disease (one is too much natural cortisone in the blood, the other too little)and x-ray showed a big mass on either the adrenal gland or the liver, they couldn't really tell which.
We discussed long and hard the pros and cons or more tests, blood work, ultra-sound. He was only eating if he was on fluids. So we finally made that hard decision and let him go with dignity. He was a special cat (aren't they all to those of us who love them?) who loved people and was always on hand to greet company. He will be dearly missed, especially by the one cat I have left who is trying to figure out what we did with his friend.
We will all go through our own forms of grief, then pull ourselves together and share good memories. We had (I think) 12 years with him and he was a joy.
I'm so sorry!!! I know how it feels to lose a beloved pet. It's not easy at all!
"By remembering those who passed on, will never let them die!"
Critter I am so sorry. We are all here for you.
Critter....putting a pet to sleep is the hardest decision to make but you made the right decision. I've had a few animals put to sleep and I was constantly thinking...what if I had waited another week and let the vet try something else, or maybe that was something they would've gotten over if I had waited just a few days longer. I decided that I had done the right thing and I had to let it go at that so I wouldn't drive myself insane.
It's better that you let your beloved pet die with dignity than to make them suffer longer for selfish reason. Take care!
