Hi guys I am new to paw talk and recently had my first fancy rat (Milo) pass away. I decided it was time to get 2 new boys (Thor and Loki), I've only ever had the one so was a little cautious getting 2 but as everyone knows rats are better in social groups. I have only had my boys a few days but already finding the Thor is a lot more sociable the Loki. It is difficult to get him to want to come out of the cage and to settle when I am handling him. Can anyone please give any advice and help!
Many thanks, love and licks

Welcome! So glad you could join!

I love those names, they are awesome.

They will take a while to relax into things. Give them time, sit near them and read out-loud so they get to know your voice. Put an old shirt in there so they can smell you. Give them places to hide and feed them treats by hand. Put them in a small pen to exercise outside of the cage, working up to larger areas so they aren't over-whelmed.

I hope this helps. Best of luck! : )
