I just bought a new cage for my degu which is a three tier tall cage with wire levels and bases so I was going to modify it and replace the wire levels and ramps with wood so he doesn't damage his feet. I've been given some chipboard to use as it was cheap but I'm unsure, some people said its fine to use but others have said no because a glue in it that can damage their teeth? Can anyone help?

Hmm, I would think that most degus would destroy it instantly and yeah, the glue might not be good for them :(.

Degu. cage.

Degu can only chew edges, not flat surfaces. I use anything, but I put kiln dried pine trim on all edges. For some reason they don't chew the pvc pipe I used as a tunnel from one level to another. Go figure???

Tell that to my old degu Rosie! While many degus won't bother with flat surfaces, there are plenty who will chew through them happily. Rosie chewed right through the base of the first cage I had her in.
