Definitely a gerbil. They do best in pairs or groups so consider getting him/her a same-sex buddy .
.I'll have to ask my parents I'm fairly new to owning rodents. I once had a dwarf hamster, but that was long ago. This gerbil is rather skittish (I named him Shepard, by the way) so I was wondering the best way to care for him. Any tips?
