I should probably start by saying Miran is the first cat I have ever owned, I've always just had dogs so any advice will be much appreciated! Miran was a feral kitten that appeared one day on one of my gardening jobs dragging a back leg, I couldn't just leave her there as it is a holiday home so she'd have to fend for herself but more importantly needed to see a vet about her back leg! So after 5 days of feeding I managed to catch her and took her to the vet. Turns out it was an infection and after antibiotics, worming, tick treatments getting her spayed & lots of tlc, I happy to say she's now a friendly, healthy cat. The issue I have is having both dogs and a cat in the same house. Miran hates my dogs, she is absolutely terrified of them. One of my dogs has a healthy respect for cats and has had cats "friends" in the past but my other dog (2y/o border collie) has never been around cats other than to bark at and chase. I've resided to the fact that they will never live along side harmoniously so have given the upstairs to Miran while keeping the downstairs for the dogs. My only worry is the upstairs has an open staircase (which I've blocked off as best I can but I am sure curiosity will get the better of her), so really I'm looking for any advice / reassurance from anyone who has had a similar situation and does the cat stay clear of the dog zone? Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply!
