No, it's highly unlikely. Their fur is too dense and doesn't allow for fleas to make it to the skin. As long as you are giving the chin regular dust baths and their fur is in good condition, they should be fine.
there's is a ton of important stuff to read up on about Chins so make sure u are well informed, especially now the weather is getting warmer..over heating is a huge issue..good luck and enjoy ur chinny..post pics
Chillas are great in that they don't get fleas and are quite clean in their cages.
Make sure that you buy special Chinchilla DUST and not sand...it is most important for them to have this at least 2-3 times a week during warm weather to keep their fur clean and fluffy.
Also, choose your chilla carefully; check his eyes, ears, feet, teeth, and bum area.
