So latley as you Know iv been having trouble with my poor mickey:( and hubby and I have come to the conclusion it is best to find him a home where he would be happy and not so stressed.

Well Iv been working with local rescues around here in finding Mickey a fantastic home :confetti: this way he doesn't have to be locked up in a cage and they are looking for the perfect home.
Anyways one of the rescues suggested I contact this No Kill shelter that is out of quebec but not to far which i wouldnt mind driving to......Well I looked at there website and it seemed fishy, But I however emailed them. They asked me to explain what was going on with Mickey and what his Illness was.

So I explained his Peeing everywhere and Attacking the baby and that he has Cerebral Palazy which doesnt effect him in anyway other then his walking skills.
well the email I got back was a shocker and totally not what I was expecting,.....

The rescue suggested that...

I Lock Mickey in a room till alyson is older, and not let mickey leave the room but that I could visit him in the room but he wouldn't be allowed out......

Or....

That I put Mickey down as it would be just to hard for them to rehome him.......

THIS Shelters suppose to be a NO KILL SHELTER if there giving me crappy advice and I know how to take care of cats, what crappy advice are they giving to people in BIG TROUBLE and don't know what to do with there cats. ARGH:angry2:

Most no kill shelters do actually euthanize animals that are sick or aggressive and aren't candidates for adoption for those reasons. From their perspective, it sounds like Mickey has both aggression as well as medical problems so in all reality he probably would be euthanized even in some no kill shelters.

I think they are just being honest with you. Shelters and rescues deal with a lot of homeless animals and don't have time to sugar coat these types of things. If they think, from your description of him, that he will be too hard for them to place in a home then he'd most likely either be euthanized at the shelter or live out his life in a tiny cage. Compared to that being confined to one room, or humanly euthanized surrounded by people he knows and loves may be the better options.

Hopefully, if you can't find a rescue to work with him, you will be able to keep him until you can find a new home for him. Good luck!
mickey doesnt have any healthy problems he has all his shots and has been to the vet . hes just purley jealous which some cats are.

On a lighter note I did find a good home for him a rescue friend of mine is suppose to take him she has a cat just like him.appearntly he does the same thing as mickey does with us when her nieces are over.its a sigh a relief for us knowing that hes not the only one thats like this :)

Cerebral Palazy is a medical condition that the shelter might not be prepared to deal with.

Millions of perfectly healthy, friendly cats are homeless despite the fact that large numbers of them are highly adoptable. If the shelter has trouble finding homes for these cats, then I think it's understandable why they wouldn't want to take on a cat with Cerebral Palazy who has shown aggression towards children (no matter what the cause is). Most shelters, even no kill shelters, will euthanize an animal that has a history of aggression. It doesn't matter what the cause is - you said that Mickey attacked your baby. From a shelters perspective, that is probably enough to make him unadoptable or in the very least very hard to find an adoptive home for.

I am glad you found him a new home though. I hope he will be very happy there :)
i completely understand what your saying :) and I understand the shelters point of view its just the idea that theyd say lock him in a room >_< to me its like saying put the clothes away till your daughters older and can fit into them.
