He is beautiful!! Spike looks like a hooded rat, but I usually see hooded rats with either a beige/tan head area or dark brown/black, but Spike has a gorgeous russian blue type colored gray fur on his hood. Very pretty! Is there such a thing as a Russian Blue hooded rat? Anyone have any opinions? He is a cutie by the way! Hooray for you deciding to get him from the Humane Society, awesome. I bet he is a grateful boy. :)

This is his brother Emmitt: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...0237944782956.329458.543467955&type=3&theater

Maybe you can see the color better? I'm not sure. Is it Russian Blue?

She's a dwarf...they have key characteristics other than just size: adorably huge eyes, shorter, thinner and pinker tail & tiny adorable hands!

Dwarf rats average 75g to 125g (dwarf rats are NOT just "small" standard rats. Dwarf is a gene and is not super common so be careful of just anyone claiming to have dwarf rats without documentation)

Also, there is no size variation between male and females; not like normal rats where the male is much bigger.

So yeah, my Annie is that size yet full grown. You can see the "classic" dwarf eyes in this picture:

I know it's dark, but you can see her size in this: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...0237944782956.329458.543467955&type=3&theater

oh hahah I know you didnt say mine wasn't... I just saw you said you didnt know what a dwarf was. They are so amazing! People see her all the time and don't know if shes a mouse or rat or something or other (haha!)

I think the eyes are the same, but they have smaller heads so the eyes look much bigger. It's adorable...they have these tiny, tiny hands too. Dwarfs are super addicting! I'm about to get a baby from a local dwarf specific rattery.
