Hello I am a new member and new Degu owner. I just got Mia a female Degu about a week ago. I was supposed to be getting two females but now I am told I have to wait 3-4 weeks for another female. (long long story) any way Mia appears to be older (not sure though). She has been eating, drinking and pooping a lot. She appears to be healthy to my untrained eyes. She has not made a single noise since we got her. IS this normal? From everything I have read I thought they were very very vocal animals.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer this for me.

She might just be scared. There's a good chance she'll be more vocal once she has a companion.

Speaking of sounds, mine are soooooo noisey that we have to turn up the tv to hear it. They even mew like kittens and tweet like birds. Chatter, squeal and squeak. Be careful of what you want, lol. Between their vocals and the darn wheel, we all relish the few moments that they nap.
