:rolleyes:I have two Degus, both male, about 2 years old. One of them has developed a bald spot that covers about 1/3 of his hind leg. After doing some research online I thought that he may have ticks... but wouldn't the other one have them as well? If this is indeed what he has, what do I use to treat it? If he doesn't have ticks, is the treatment still safe to use anyway? Thank you so much in advance!!

You would be able to see a tick if he had them... they're quite easily visible. Are you sure you're not thinking of mites?

could be bordom or lick granuloma over grooming that one area, often seen as a behavor probem usually seen on the front paws
in dogs could be the same with the goos.

Degus do sometimes develop a habit of overgrooming. Generally, if it is 1 spot on 1 Degu, it won't be mite related, that generally indicates some overgrooming.

What does the skin look like? Is it red, irritated, inflamed or scabby? Or does it look like healthy skin, but just bald?
