Yes, it is true that bread is unhealthy to the ducks but not toxic for them. The big problem with the intake of bread is that it can offer very low nutrients which bird really needs. Ducks need more proteins and fats than carbs.
Excessive intake of bread can cause obesity in a lot of birds. So it is advisable not to take too much of bread.
