My dogs went to the in-laws with me for a weekend and came back with fleas...YUCK. There aren't that many but my boys are still itching like crazy.

Now heres the thing. I don't use chemicals on my animals. For number one, I have made arrangements to bury Spyro near a river and I don't want it to harm the environment in any sort of way. Many people have buried their pets here and it is frowned upon (but you won't get a fine unless it is within 100ft of the water treatment areas). It is mostly frowned upon due to the heavy use of chemicals on pets (Frontline...for example).

I used to use an herbal flea spray every now and then but since Ive moved, the scent triggers my boyfriend's asthma. I did some light reading and found brewer's yeast/garlic tabs for dogs. Some people claim its good while others say its bad.

I asked my vet. He suggested to use chemicals anyway and offered Advantage (even though I have told him Advantage makes me break out). No comment on the adding the supplements.

I can't find the number to the vet I was hoping to switch to. Bummer.

I'm not worried about Spyro since he has an iron stomach (and has gotten into poisons such as onions, chocolate, and grapes and came out with gas) but Loki is still a youngin. I'm iffy about using a spot on with Loki due to the fact Advantage left a red mark on his spine from when he came from the shelter.

Yeah can't use Advantage. It not only makes their skin red, but makes me break out when I touch them.

I kill those "Chuck Norris" fleas with soapy water after using a flea comb.
