When I bought my hamster last year he had upper and lower teeth, but nowadays he doesnt have his upper teeth anymore.

My hamster's bottom teeth grow very very fast and I've noticed that when they get to a certain length he starts to grind his upper teeth. His upper teeth have now been ground completely. I have cut my hamster's bottom teeth recently but I still don't see any signs of his upper teeth growing at all.

I am also abit concerned as he tends to favour soft food instead of his normal hamster food. He also doesn't gnaw on anything to keep his lower teeth to normal length. I have bought wood and dog buscuits but nothing is working.

Can you please tell me what to do?

Obviously he has no need to be eating dog biscuits if he has no top teeth. This could be caused by disease or he could have broken them off. Ive never heard of it being possible to completley grind away the incisors. I'd see a vet. Good luck.

One of my hamsters breaks her top teeth off every now and then. I just give her soft food--baby food with no salt, preservatives, ect. is good and keep a close eye on the bottom ones until they grow back-which usually takes a few weeks for my girl!! If this has been going on for a long time, def. contact a vet as it could be more serious than just breaking them off!! Hope the little thing is okay!!
