Hay cubes

I found some new hay cubes in the rabbit section of petsmart, they're Kaytee forti-diet rabbit adult maintenance formula...anyone else use these? They look pretty good but there are quite a few things I couldn't identify in the ingriedients, so I wanted to get some other opinions before they become a regular part of the chinnies diet. I've given them a couple and they grabbed it up like treats! Here's the ingriedient list:

Sun cured Timothy grass hay, sun cured alfalfa hay, rolled barley, soybean meal, wheat middlings, Cane molasses, Linseed meal, soy oil, salt, dicalcium phosphate, yucca schidigera extract, vitamin A supplement, propionic acid (preservative)Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, Iron proteinate, zinc sulfate, zinc protienate, riboflavin supplement, vitamin B 12 supplement, choline chloride, ethoxyquin (preservative), copper sulfate, copper protienate, Magnesium sulfate, magnesium protienate, manganous sulfate, manganous protienate, potassium iodate, niacin, menadione sodium bi sulfite complex (source of vit. k)m cholecalciferol (source of vit. D 3(, Calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydochloride, thiamine mononitrate, biotin, folic acid, dried A.oryzae fermentation extract (source of protease), dried bacillus coagulans fermentation product, dried bacillus licheniformis fermentation product,dried bacillus subtilis fermentation product, cobalt carbonate,sodium selenite.

i used those once with spike (my guinea pig) but spike is way different than any chinni..........?

At our Petsmart I never buy the hay cubes because compared to the ones from the feed store, they always look brown and they don't smell near as fresh. But I haven't seen these new ones you mention. I'll have to look into them.

I never buy my hay cubes from a pet store for the same reason as Christi. If there is a feed store around you, they are much fresher. (I pay around 10.00 for 50 lbs).

I have seen these. They also make them for pregnant and nursing bunnies. I usually only give timothy hay (and other assortments of Oxbow hays) and not alfalfa and these cubes are usually mixed. Might be good for putting on weight. My chins don't like cubes they will only eat the loose hay anyway.

I bought some of these when I first got Maverick but with only one chin (which is less than I have on my person) they don't go quickly and have dried up considerably. I suppose, hindsight being as it is, that I should have put them in the refrigerator with the rest of the animal food but it didn't occur to me.

I thought there was some famous chinchilla breeder among us who was selling hay? Am I mistaken?

I don't even know where a feed store is where I live (Orlando). I guess in the outlying areas. I'll have to look into it.

I thought you got hay cubes with your last food pick-up from me! LOL I can point you to the feed store, but it's downtown, and probably easier for you to just get it from me!
