I know it's a long shot asking here, but it's worth a try.

My eight rats need rehoming. I am moving into an apartment which, of course, takes no 'exotic' pets.

I will be moving within a week, but I would rather see my babies go somewhere they'll be loved than to a pet store..

I would be willing to travel a little, but as we are saving money to live on our own, I can't go far.

I am in Louisville, KY. I have 3 females, 4 males, and one neutered male who lives with the females.

Oh no! Heartbreaking. :(

I'd take some of them in a heartbeat if you were closer. If you haven't already, please try at Goosemoose. They have a much bigger network of helpers and rat lovers.

They would likely go as snake food if taken to a pet store. :( Poor things.
Do keep trying different avenues: Petfinder, looking up rescues and pet rat breeders in your tristate area etc.
