Our Iguana Godzilla has been rubbing his cheek on the cage. I have been reading on what to do. I spoke with a vet and they told me to put neosporin on it. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the dimensions of your cage? Do you take it out regularly? Do you give it baths? Any other animals? Your cage might be to small for him so he wants out. Do you let him free roam while your home?

His cage is 3x3x4. He is in the process of shedding. We have just taken over his care. He has a 100 watt heat lamp and a uv lamp. The air in the room is mid 60s. We put in a humidifier yesterday which raised the room temp. We have been trying to get him to come out of the cage he's beginning to think about coming out.

How large is your iguana? The humidity will help him shed without you holding him. The rubbing of his face can be stress when you are home have his cage door open so that he has the option to walk out. Also put his food dish outside of the cage if possible to help speed it along. If possible have a water dish in his enclosure in case he wants to soak because baths will help remove any dead irritating skin also. And don't forget to apply the neosporin to any rub sites.

If it's just a bit of skin irritation from rubbing, that should do the trick. What type of UVB light do you have?

Be sure the neosporin is the type that does not contain painkillers, as those are toxic to reptiles. Also, confine it to the area of the scrape or wound, as it can cause scales to slough. (Petroleum jelly and scales don't get along).

What is the temperature inside of his cage?
If the room temperature is in the mid-60s, don't bring him out. That's too cold for him.

Did you buy new equipment, or did it come with him? Do you have any photos?

I haven't been able to download pictures on this site. They keep asking for a URL. He is on phone. I have had a couple people look at his pictures and it is an abscess my project for today is to find him a vet.
