argh! so pawtalk logged me out, then didn't recognise me and in the meantime it didn't save my (very long) post.

basically i want to help this mouse i rescued from my cat over a week ago.

her leg is very swollen and red :(

i don't want to set her free with this impairment as it'll probably mean certain death. i also don't want her to be in pain. i live in the uk and nowhere within 100 miles will help me help this poor little mite, just because she's wild.

any advice please? i heard tetracycline from the fish part of a pet store used as an antibiotic with mice?

i'm a new user so i'm not allowed to post a photo :(

please go to..... (add h t t p : / / first, without the spaces)

imageshack.us/photo/my-images/809/mouseq.jpg/

to see the photo of the poor likkle mite
xx

If the cat bit him, their saliva carries a bacteria that will kill small animals. Here, its illegal to take in wild animals. Do you have a wildlife rehab there? As mean as it sounds it would propably be best in thd wild letting nature decide. The amount of stress alone is unhealthy for him, being caged, handled, and hurt.

thanks for your reply fuzz16. i'm pretty sure my cat didn't bite her as she would be dead by now from the bacteria and has no injuries other than the swollen leg (she's been with us 8 days now)... she may have had the leg problem before my cat caught her, who knows. i'm not comfortable letting a poorly animal out in the wild where she has a much lower chance of survival :( i'm positive the stress would have killed it already if it was that stressed...

Some vets will take in animals like that and help rehabilitate them. I know sometimes my vet has their assistants helping care for wild baby rabbits people brought in. They might be able to help more or point you in the right direction? I'm not sure what else to suggest. Good luck though!
