hi,

I got my first pair of degus today, 2 males aged about three and a half.

I did read up about them before getting them and they seem to have settled in pretty well, but any advice would be welcome.

They have been together all of their lives, and seem to get along. But I do have one question.

I have some quite wide cardboard tubes (the sort that fabric comes on) and I was wondering, if I cut them down to size, would they be ok to put in their cage for a tunnel? i realise they will get chewed, but I do want to make their environment as rewarding as possible for them.

Thanks in advance.

I know its been a while, sorry for the late response.

I'm sure cardboard tubes would be fine as long as they don't have any dangerous chemicals on them and as long as they are not too tight for the degu.

How are they doing?
