I was wondering what rats look like if they have mites.

I googled pictures and neither of the rats have sores or anything on their bodies. But something weird is happening - they're both kind of turning pink. Like, they're whit, and Gracie has always had a slight pinkish tinge to her fur on her head. But slowly since we have them Gracie's pink shade is getting bigger and Cocoa is starting to turn pink too. And when I was pregnant I got really itchy but I was told it was something wrong with my liver and it would go away when Jamie was born. So they induced me and it kind of stopped, then it started again but not so bad, then a few weeks ago my boyfriend started getting itchy.

I was thinking really hard and the only thing I can come up with is that, around the time we got the rats was when I started getting itchy - within a couple of weeks of it anyways, if I can remember right.

And I was also wondering if anyone knew what the pinkness is if it's not mites?

I was trying to look all this stuff up but I got a lot of conflicting answers and opinions.

It's hard to get a picture of, but I will try to. The best way to explain it would be that when we bought them they were pure white with black spots on their tails and red eyes. There was a little spot on Gracie's head where, in the right light, her fur looked almost translucent and you could see right through it to her skin - it made her fur appear pink. But in the last few months it's like their fur on their head is going slightly translucent around both ears and their eyes and stuff. It doesn't seem to bug them, they don't scratch much, and aren't acting out of the ordinary or eating new food or anything. They're just... I don't know.

It does look a lot like that, only not so uniform and of course not tan. The flash on the camera whites it out but when I shoot with no flash it's usually all a dark looking sort of dirty white color. My camera isn't the greatest. I will try to get pics.

Well thank you! It is definitely not mites, they must be shedding their baby fur or something. That's exactly what it looks like, only in a broader spot.
