As for chewing,yes...in the long run it CAN hurt her teeth.It can lead to tooth problems.I had a rescue rat who always chewed the bars of his cage and ended up with a deformed jaw and mallocussion (SP?).He needed vet visits all the time.
If she is chewing the bars alot,it is normally a sign of boredom or wanting attention.Provide her with loads of chew toys and other toys and make sure she gets alot of "out of cage" time.
You can also try using bitter apple spray,thats works with some rats and stops them from chewing things they shouldn't.
I also think you should get her a friend.Rats are VERY social and NEED ratty friends.
