My cat oy ( i know a strange name, we couldn't think of a suitable name for him and it was the only one he took notice of, so before we knew it. it stuck)

He died the other year and i still get choked up thinking of him now.

He joined the family when i was 5 years old. At that age i called him my little bro.:)

We knew each others moods and signs etc, best buddies.

Then he got ill, first his kidneys gave up, then he got cancer as well.

He passed away while my parents were away.:( It was the first time i've ever had to bury a pet without family there. It was horrible doing it.

This year i've gone and got some sunflower seeds to put where he is in our garden. I still miss him so much.

:( I'm sorry for your loss ... when you have a really special pet it never is easy. I've had a few of those in my life. The pain will fade over time but it will never fully go away. But you will be able to look back on your memories of him and think of the good times and all the love you had for each other ... it just takes time. The pain isn't bad ... it serves to remind you of what an impact he had on you and how much he touched your life.

I know it must have been hard to bury him yourself ... but try to think of it as a worthy memorial for Oy. You were there when no one else was to take care of him and lay him to rest. I'm sure he appreciated it wherever he is now ... :)

Keep your chin up. :hug3:

:( I'm very, very sorry. I know how you feel. I had a cat named Cozy that my family got before I was born. She was an awesome cat that lived for over 20 years (she had more than her share of nine lives, I promise you that!). She had to go to the emergency vet a few times when I was little and ended up with some of her tail missing and some broken teeth but that never stopped her. Well, she passed away peacefully a couple of years ago and it was so hard. She is buried in our backyard with wild flowers and roses as her memorial. Our dog, Ginger, passed away recently from cancer. Sher was 14 and I swear the smartest and best dog I have ever come across. We miss here dearly also. I just wanted to let you know that I understand your pain. :sorry: Oy will be at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you someday.

P.S. I think Sunflowers are a beautiful choice.

I agree! I am in the process of losing my lovely black cat Sneak and thinking is hard at the moment. But I read these posts and I want to say how lovely and wonderful people are for giving their support. It is so utterly sad and lonely losing a pet and I understand your pain. Cheers to Oy and all others who have gone before.
