My friend just got a baby cockatiel yesterday well she left the bird alone to get use to her new home.and today when she got up she opened the cage to bring the bird out and the bit her two time every hard in the hand.it broke the skin.Do you hand tame a cockatiel the same way you do a budgie? or is a different.

Was it hand fed? if not you need to start by talking to it when its in the cage and slowly working up to going into the cage and so on.

she got it from a pet store that is mostly birds it is a privately owned store the owner hand raises some of the birds but i don't know about all of them.she tried to take the bird out again later in the day and the bird came out on a perch with out biting.
