hello everyone, i need some help please. my mum just bought home an awesome new toy for my degus. its designed for parrots but we read about people using these toys. problem is its made of wood and we are unsure about what wood it is. i was wondering what would happen if that wood was toxic? do they get upset tummy or something worse? my mum was really happy about how she found a cool toy but was upset when i mentioned the wood.

Chances are, if the wood is safe for parrots, it's safe for degus. Could you maybe take a picture?

Would children's wooden alphabet blocks be ok for them to chew? I have some and thought about drilling a hole in some and putting them on treat rods.

The symptoms would depend on the wood itself so I don't know.

Yes, those would be fine :). They should be made with non-toxic dyes since kids could put them in their mouths.

Thanks. someone gave me blocks a while back and I forgot about them. I dug them out the other day and thought I would ask before turning them into degu toys.
