I recently bought a hedgehog that was pregnant ( i did not have any knowledge of this at the time) and she has 4 babies . She ate two and I witnessed her attempting to eat a third one. I am sure she was stressed in a new environment and I will admit too many people were around when my boyfriend noticed babies . I recalled hearing squeaks from my hedgehog the morning before and wondering what they were but I fell back asleep hardly thinking about it. But when I saw the mother eating babies my first instinct was to help . I am just terrible at letting nature take its course. It was just unbearable to hear the frightened screams. I'm sure some of you can imagine . This is only my second hedgehog which was believed to be a male. I am new at all this hedgie business so i am in quite a predicament. I bought KRM and a syringe to feed them and I had been feeding them , but one of the two babies didn't eat but once before it died. I am heartbroken and more than ever determined to help the second baby survive . Even if the likelihood of it happening is next to zero. I need to know how often to feed and how much . Does KRM really work? Any other suggestions for food? How often do I need to make it poop ? Will it poop every time it eats? how will i know when it's done eliminating itself? (pooping seems to be a big deal from things i have read) Any other tips or info ? please go lightly on the negativity . Like I said , I am new. I know death happens but I want to be optimistic here! Any info on caring for them greatly appreciated!
