The pet industry is huge and has grown to over $40+ billion in sales in 2007, pet food alone was at a staggering $16+ billion. Spending forecasts for 2008 will likely exceed those numbers. According to the National Pet Owners Survey, 63% of households in the U.S. own a pet with most owning more than one, that equates to over 71 million homes.
