These rats were in a tank, which to me even if its big enough, rats should not be in. I agree petstores really should have tighter regulations put on them. That's HORRIBLE poor rattiesUgh, the way pet stores treat rats are horrible, ESPECIALLY when they're in tanks and have nothing to do.
I remember seeing too large rats TOGETHER in a tank that was literally no bigger than they were. It be a tank for like, a small lizard or something, if that.
Sorry I just like hijacked your thread LLOL.
But yeah, whenever I walk in a pet store i'm bound to see something I don't like >_>
Well, if they were any kind of human beings they wouldn't repeat it.Well they've learned an important lesson -- an unweaned sad rat is an easy sell!
I probably wouldn't even go there if it wasn't for the fact I live so far away from everything and its the only petstore within 40 miles of me. And I don't even think there's a feed store near me.If they charged you 18 dollars, they were laughing all the way to the bank. Why is it the most unscrupulous people are the ones who open pet stores? This is why I refuse to go into crap pet stores anymore. All I end up doing is supporting them.
We've got a horrible place here in town called Ed's Pet World. A more vile example of animal trafficking I've never seen.
Well, I atleast saved one animal from dying a horrible death. That's the best I can do.Well, I mean, you already said they "constantly" do stupid stuff like this, including selling alligators, so I'm not sure why this should be the exception. It's apparently bringing in business -- people are buying their sick animals, they make money, and they don't have to pay for vet care!
I totally get that and I would buy my products elsewhere but there isn't any other place sadlythe thing is, to help these animals you are actually better to not give them any money or buy their pets. Because they make money from it, and they'll just order as many new rats as they sold from the exact same place and continue buisness.
I "saved" my rat from being snake food (she was a whoping 4.99 canadian dollars because she was in the feeder bin, because at that pet store black or black and white rats are feeders....) so I totally get you. I would have done the same thing, because it's too hard when you have a heart to leave them there... but the real way to make them take better care of them or stop selling them is to not give them any buisness and ESPECIALLY not buy their products, pet stores make the most profit off of the items in the store and not the animals which is why in general they don't take good care of them: it makes them lose time and money to take care of them properly.
.
the pet store I was at we were 2, max 3 workers to take care of about 30 fish tanks, over a dozen reptiles, 4 bunnies, over 30 birds, 5-10 puppies, 10-15 cats and over 30 rodents. There is no way 2 people serving all the clients as well and re-stocking shelves can give proper care to all those animals.
I know, but all the rats here are around that price for feeders and they are all feeders whether they are rare or notdont get me started on pet stores. It tickes me off when I see a siamese or himme in the feeder bins and I cant leave them there. thanks for takeing him though he looks like he is only 3.
I cant belive they made you pay that much for him. around here rats for feeders 4.99 small. 5.99 med. and 6.99 large or pets are 6.99 as well and 15 or 10 of on sale for hairless. but wow 17 something. wow that is a lot fo at lest around here unless its a rare rat or one that is from a ratery or a show like rodent fest or something like that. But even our local pet co who was new here which is stupid to have 2 pet stores in the same twon to me but the new one is starting to get crappy and the people there when I 1st started going there i would ask them questions and to see if they atually knew anyhting and they were corect or found some one but know they are horible and dont know the answers and half the ones that I knew worked there dont. they should have stricker rules for pet shops.
I love the new name
