I got a gerbil yesterday her name is Ginger. I got her from a petstore that obviously had no idea how to sex the gerbils. There were tanks with males and females in them. :(. I got Ginger from a all girl tank, but with only one left after I took her. (Might have been a boy there I don't know) And she seems just a TINY bit over average, and not just fat average. What are the signs of pregnany?

do you know how much she weighs ? weighing her each day can help determine pregnancy if shes gaining it rapid, is her tummy getting rounder and rounder would be a sign also nesting can be a sign.

I once bred them (bad me I know and moving on) there really aren't any signs until later on when they become semi football shaped. they also nest after a while. Does she have a litter mate with her? Or another FEMALE gerbil? If there are ANY males (i read you didn't intend for both genders which is good but make sure) then after she delivers she will be pregnant again. If the others are females and they're all getting a long I would keep them in there to help. If not then momma will be fine. Keep an eye out for her belly getting bigger and I would start researching now when to separate the babies. Females can stay with mom without problems USUALLY.

Males of course need to be separated as soon as they can safely be so not to create little ones.

Good luck and keep an eye on that belly! and weighing won't hurt too!
