Had to update! All is good with Lulu. Took her to the vet and had her checked out. She apparently consumed some "African grass" which did not settle well in her stomach. My male, Bucky, ate some too but he did fine with it. This was some grass that was growing in my yard and stupid me...I didn't think about it before giving it to them. I just noticed it was fresh and green and knew they would like it (which she did). But she is all better and back to normal!
Sick Prairie Dog
My precious LuLu came up sick today...all of a sudden. I am SO worried about her. She was fine this afternoon and then this evening, she became lethargic. She goes to the back of her cage and just sits or lies there and stares. We thought she had passed away a couple of times, because she wouldn't respond to our voices or move. She has tried to vomit a few times, but I'm not sure if she threw up anything. I didn't see anything come out of her mouth. She just kept gagging. She won't eat (not like her at all...she LOVES to eat ANYTHING you give her). I gave her some Pedialyte per some earlier posts I read. So I hope that helps her get through the night. She went on to bed with her buddy, Bucky. She doesn't want to be touched now. She usually loves to be picked up out of her cage, but now, she just cries out when you try to touch her. Her stomach feels kind of hard, but she has always eaten a lot. So I don't know if she has an obstruction or if it's just food. This all came on all of a sudden so I don't know what to expect. I will be taking her to the emergency vet in the morning. I am just terribly sad hoping that she will be okay. I don't know what I would do without her. And nor would Bucky.
