at the shelter i work at we adopt out dogs as is, as long as it isn't something fatal. We just don't have the means to check for everything. However, if a dog is having bloody runny poo we do tell the people adopting and send home meds if they need it.

probably 95% of our dogs get bloody runny poo at the shelter, it is almost a side effect of being there, the stress, the contact with other dogs causes illnesses.
