Tame Gemsbok

i don't know if there is any way to tame them after they are grown. They have no reason to come up to you or trust you with 500 acres of space and food. why not ask your friend how they worked with theirs?

i yeah i know i mean future generations, i have had to tranqualize one so i could retrieve her baby because she wasn't producing milk but still protected he dying offspring. I didn't know how to bottle raise saw i gave it away. so i know how to get the little babys

Hi Gemsboklover

The Gemsbok is indigenous to Southern Africa and Namibia is it not? I assume you have a herd of all-adult animals? I would be nervous of those almost metre-long horns and I don't think anyone here would be able to give you better advice on how to tame your Gemsbok then your friend to be honest. Putting out food, speaking in a calm, steady voice and just being patient might not be enough. Definitely better to sosialize with them on a regular basis from a young age if the other, adult buck will allow it. Good luck!
